WHAT MAKES ARTIZAN COFFEE BETTER?

Quite simply, everything! We use 100% organic specialty coffee beans. Furthermore, our coffee beans are masterfully roasted and delivered to you withing days of roasting for optimal freshness.

Do YOU HAVE A BLEND GUIDE?

No. Our signature blends and single origin coffees are exclusive to Artizan Coffee and truly unique from any of the Nespresso Grand Cru offerings.

Are there any allergens in your coffee?

None. All of our coffees are roasted, packaged and distributed from our USDA Certified Organic facility in Miami Gardens, FL. Our facility is peanut-free, tree nut free, milk-free, egg-free, wheat-free, soy-free, fish-free, crustacean shellfish free, gluten-free, sesame-free, celery-free, lupin-free and mustard-free.

Do you test for Mycotoxins?

Yes, we test every lot of green coffee beans we source for these four mycotoxins: Ochratochin A, Aflatoxin B1, Fumonisin B1 and T-2. Additionally, we moisture test every batch of green coffee before they are roasted to ensure moisture levels are below 12.5% This effectively ensures that mycotoxin simply can’t grow under these conditions. Last but not least, we roast every batch for over 10 minutes, at temperatures over 415 degrees which has been shown to eliminate the risk of mycotoxins. This is our MYCOTOXINS FREE ASSURANCE.

What is Specialty Coffee?

All green (raw or unroasted) coffee beans are graded on a scale of  1 (best) to 7 (worst).  Specialty coffee is defined as grade 1 Arabica coffee beans and make up only 1% of all the coffee harvested and processed in the world. Specialty Coffee is the only type of coffee that is used by Artizan Coffee Company.

USDA ORGANIC

What is “USDA Certified Organic” coffee?

In order for coffee to be certified and sold as organic in the United States, it must be produced in accordance with U.S. standards for organic production and certified by an agency accredited by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. U.S. requirements for organic coffee production include:

  • It must have been grown on land without synthetic pesticides or other prohibited substances for three years.

  • There must have been a sufficient buffer between the organic coffee and the nearest conventional crop.

  • The farmer must have a sustainable crop rotation plan to prevent erosion, the depletion of soil nutrients, and control for pests.

Why is Organic coffee better?

Organic coffee taste better because it is free from chemical pesticides and fertilizers. In addition, drinking organic coffee may reduce your risk of chronic disease, extend your lifespan and improve the environment to boot.

As the consumer,  how do I identify a USDA certified coffee?

Look for the USDA Certified Organic logo on the front label of the coffee. You'll then know that the entire supply chain, including the coffee roaster, has complied with the organic standards, and you're truly receiving the organic product you've made the conscious choice to consume.

Are Artizan Coffee capsules made with certified organic coffee?

You Betcha! Artizan Coffee is the FIRST producer of coffee capsules compatible with Nespresso machines to carry the USDA Organic Seal.

Our USDA Organic CertifIcation - what does it mean?

It's a commitment to the organic product, by which we ensure that our handling, roasting, and packaging methods are performed per organic processing standards.

Is your coffee Kosher?

Naturally Kosher

Naturally Kosher

Naturally Kosher for Passover

Naturally Kosher for Passover

Our unflavored coffees are considered kosher because water is the only substance that the beans come into contact with during the harvesting, processing, and roasting process. Kosher issues arise when other factors are included such as the type of decaffeination process and use of flavor additives.

There are a variety of techniques for decaffeination, but they boil down to two processes: the natural water-based process versus a chemical solvent method. The chemical method uses ethyl acetate to dissolve the caffeine; ethyl acetate is created with grain so it is not Kosher for Passover. The water process uses activated carbon to filter the caffeine. Since Artizan Coffee only use the water method for our decaf coffee, all of our decaf coffee is kosher.

Our organic flavoring systems are certified kosher by Orthodox Union.

Lastly, look for the Naturally Kosher and Naturally Kosher for Passover logo on our product page to denote our kosher products.

Our lids are made of 100% of cellulose natural fibers. They are FSC® Certified. Biodegradable and certified home & industrial compostable (EN 13432).

Both. Thanks to its special chemical structure, our pods can be biodegraded by microorganisms and their enzymes. Under the conditions of an industrial composting plant – high temperature, high moisture, defined oxygen content – biodegradation only takes a few weeks.

Why are your capsules not compostable at home?

The FDA has not approved home compostable capsules.
